My memory fails me. What kind of lane surface is at Dream Lanes? And what condition is it in? Also, do we know what they are putting out on Sunday? Just looking for a general idea what to bring along.

Shady lessons again Nov. 28!!

Mike Shady is coming back to Wisconsin Thanksgiving weekend and is interested in holding more coaching sessions with his Bowler's Map video equipment.

Anyone who has experienced his lessons knows what a value they are and how much they can do for a bowler.

He wants to hold the sessions in RIPON (about 60-70 miles from Madison, I believe) on Saturday Nov. 28.

Super Bowl's Over/Under 40 Doubles Tournament

The Over/Under 40 Doubles tournament will be on Saturday Nov. 28, 2009
Time: Noon (Only 1 qualifying shift)
Limited to: 48 entries. The only way to make a reservation is to pay at least a $65 deposit to hold your spot. The deposit is non refundable.
Cost: $65 per bowler ($52 prize-fund, $12 bowling expenses, & $1 expense fund) 100 % of the prize money will be returned.
1^st place: $1200 team prize (based on 48 entries)
Format: Bowl 4 games of qualifying across 8 lanes. 1 out of 3 teams make the finals & cash. If byes are needed they will be given in the first round to the higher qualifying teams.
Finals: Luck of the draw 1 game matches (no baker) until only one team is left.
All bowling is scratch.
USBC certified

Travelling to Reno

I just wanted to pass this information out to those going to Reno. I did checking on Orbitz and Travelocity before checking with my regular travel agent. Here was her response.

"I was able to price out both 4 rooms for 8 people and then just 1 room for 2 people. They both worked out to be the same price. Leaving Madison on March 5th (Friday) at 8:30 am, arriving in Reno at 12:30pm, staying 3 nights at Atlantis Casino, flying out of Reno on March 8th (Monday) at 6:15 am, returning to Madison at 1:20 pm. The total cost including taxes and fees is $545 per person. Prices are subject to change without notice. I also looked flying out of Milwaukee but it's not a noticeable change in price. Thanks!

rules enforcement or out of line

i bowl in a recreational couples league in madison, wi. the league president came up to me and rather rudely and arrogantly told me and my team that powder usage on the lanes was against the rules and said that he had seen it before. i told him that i knew this and that because we are a recreational league didn't think he should concern himself with it. we were not bowling his team and the team we were bowling had not complained. in fact, one of their bowlers does the same. the powder in question was ez-slide, not talcum. was he out of line? all the while he and his team are card-playing and had money on the table.
